About the Design
Inspired by the novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux and the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Angel of Music was painted traditionally with watercolour and ink over a tea wash. It depicts the Phantom himself, Erik, sharing a kiss with Christine Daaé. Behind him is a stained glass angel and surrounding them are church settings including a stone cherub at their feet that rests above a collection of masks, each one references of the many different adaptations.
