About the Design
Painted for MerMay, Syreni was painted traditionally in watercolour and ink over a tea wash. It depicts a dark-skinned mermaid with an emerald green tail with purple and black fins. She leans over a treasure chest covered in coral reef and guarded by a blue octopus. Below her is a vintage ribbon banner that reads: “Syreni,” the Latin word for mermaid.
